GoB aims to strengthen the governance of charities, schools and public bodies by encouraging people with skills to join their boards. It promotes the benefits of board-level volunteering, for employers, employees and the community, and has run seminars for employees of various companies and public sector organisations, including Ford Motor Company, Shell, BT, Royal Mail, the Welsh Assembly and Government Office East..

Henry Gold, the Master of WCCA, said:-

“Many of our members are involved with charities as trustees and treasurers, and have a close affinity with the objects of GoB. We expect to take an active part in helping to achieve these objects by widening the charity’s circle of contacts, both among employers and voluntary organisations”.

Sarah Hodgkinson, Chief Executive of GoB, commented that this funding will make a very significant difference to GoB. Early in February, GoB ran a seminar for members of WCCA to promote board-level volunteering and to encourage the involvement of  WCCA members in its activities.

GoB was a finalist in the Best New Charity category of the UK Charity Awards 2006.
