Applications now open for new trustee recruitment programme

Charities can now apply to participate in a project which looks set to revolutionise trustee recruitment.

If your charity struggles to recruit trustees (and you are certainly not alone: 74% of charities find it difficult to recruit the trustees they need), this free programme could be for you.

Trustee recruitment charity Getting on Board is launching Trustee Recruitment Pathways. The programme will focus on using innovative, free and low-cost advertising and recruitment methods to widen the pool of people currently serving as trustees.

To apply, charities must be registered in England and Wales, have an annual income of under £2million and be struggling to recruit the trustees they need to thrive.

There is no cost to participating charities, other than their time, as the costs will be covered by Comic Relief, The Pears Foundation and the Anjoli Stewart Fund.

Penny Wilson, Co-CEO at Getting on Board said: “Charities have been telling us for some time that they find it hard to recruit trustees. However, countless studies show that most new trustees are recruited through word-of-mouth rather than imaginative, targeted recruitment or open advertising. As a sector, we need to reach out to more potential trustees to diversify our boards in terms of skills, knowledge and life experience. We also need to take a cold, hard look at whether our boards are truly representative of the communities we are serving.”

The deadline for applications is Friday 16th February 2018.
